Fluminense won the second consecutive classic and is the new vice-leader of the Carioca Championship. After beating Flamengo last weekend, Tricolor, this time, defeated Botafogo, at Nilton Santos, 2-1, in a comeback. The triumph was built with goals from Willian Bigode, who scored the first for the new club, and Luccas Claro — Kanu opened the scoring. With the result, coach Abel Braga's team reached 12 points, one behind Vasco, who is at the top of the table. Alvinegro remains with 10, still in the G4.
In the next round, Tricolor will face Portuguesa-RJ, at Nilton Santos, on Sunday, while Glorioso will face Vasco, at Castelão, in Maranhão, on Monday.
